Start of studies in autumn at TU Dresden - application period extended until 30 September
The application phase for the upcoming winter semester 2021/22 at TU Dresden is underway. There are 124 degree programmes to choose from, 55 undergraduate and 69 postgraduate. The transport and traffic sciences are among them with 6 degree programmes.
Once you have found "your" degree programme in the study information system of TU Dresden, the next step is to apply online. The exact timeline from the application to the start of the programme can be found on the internet under the respective programme.
The study programme in Transport and Traffic Sciences includes:
- the Diploma programme in Transport Engineering
- the Bachelor's degree programme in Transport Economics and
- the Master's degree programmes:
- Railway System Engineering
- Air Transport and Logistics
- Electrical Transport Systems and
- Transportation Economics - the new international English-language Master's programme which will start in the Winter semester 2021/2022
There are no admission restrictions (numerus clausus) for 5 of the 6 degree programmes in transport sciences - except for the Master's programme "Transportation Economics".

Railway LaboratoryIn the laboratory, students learn about the principles and interrelationships of railway operations in seminars and practical courses. -
Laboratory of Railway Signalling and Transport Safety TechnologyIn this laboratory, original components and systems are available for teaching and research, including signal boxes, signals, point machines and level crossing safety systems. -
Laboratory Traffic Control & Process AutomationThe control centre laboratory is not only used for training purposes. The VAMOS control centre of the Dresden traffic management system is also installed here. This includes an extensive background system consisting of several networked servers that operate 24 hours a day. This is also where Dresden's traffic data centre is located, where all online traffic data from the city area and from the motorways in Saxony converge, are evaluated and transferred into an up-to-date dynamic traffic situation model. -
Road-Load-Simulator at Vehicle Testing CentreThe Vehicle Testing Centre at TU Dresden is a unique set of instruments for basic and applied research in vehicle technology. To this end, the chairs of Automotive Engineering and Vehicle Mechatronics are developing new simulation methods as well as new experimental methods. At the Centre, these are implemented on existing test benches and in the form of new test benches. A special research focus is on methods for digitalisation in motor vehicle development and virtual testing. -
Multikopter InspireThe drone is used for surveying tasks (creation of 3D point clouds, terrain models and high-precision orthophotos) and for video recordings to analyse driving behaviour (linear speed investigation).
