Long Night of Science 2026

Where Curiosity Creates Knowledge: A Look Back at the Long Night of Science at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences on June 26, 2026

The “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences presented a diverse and interactive program at Dresden’s Long Night of Science on June 26, 2026. Numerous visitors took the opportunity to experience current research topics related to mobility firsthand and to engage in conversation with researchers from various chairs.

A varied programme awaited guests at various locations across the faculty — from the Gerhart-Potthoff Building to the Jante Building and the Vehicle Test Center. Particularly popular were the interactive stations on the future of mobility, insights into modern traffic management, the presentation of autonomous Duckie-Bots, and presentations on statistics, traffic congestion research, and artificial intelligence in transportation. Guided tours of the Vehicle Test Center, hands-on stations in the railway construction and electric rail labs, and the flight simulators also drew great interest. The program was complemented by engaging presentations on topics including rail safety, traffic congestion prevention, and the effects of our everyday mobility habits. A mobility rally for explorers of all ages led participants through the various stations.

The high turnout and the many stimulating conversations once again demonstrated just how great the interest is in forward-looking mobility and transportation topics. The Long Night of Science provided an excellent platform for communicating research in an accessible way and bringing science to life.

We would like to extend our special thanks to all our staff members, researchers, and the many students and assistants who contributed to the success of this evening with their great dedication. Whether through preparation, organization, facilitating the program events, or engaging directly with the guests — their efforts brought the faculty to life as a vibrant hub of research and teaching. Thank you very much for your time, your ideas, and your enthusiasm, which helped bring our research to a wider audience!
